UKWIR reports 03/RG/05/5 and 03/RG/05/6 resulted from a 2003 project to develop a Water Industry Database of Equipment Reliability, WIDER, through the pooling of asset reliability information on sewage treatment works. This project builds on the earlier project, Phase 1, by extending the database to include failure and reliability information for water treatment works. A series of participative workshops examined the previously defined requirements and determined a revised ‘optimum’ level, together with the minimum data requirements, for the assimilation of the requisite equipment and maintenance information. The methodology and guidelines, developed under Phase 1, were modified to reflect the revised requirements for participation in WIDER. This report also highlights the significant benefits to be gained from a co-operative approach and makes recommendations for improving company data and systems which will enable WIDER to be used to inform future capital maintenance planning, consistent with the requirements of the Common Framework. Sold as a set of 3 Volumes: 04/RG/05/10, 11 & 12
